Beth Chatto Gardens

Beth Chatto was one of the most influential gardeners of our time.

The Gardens, acclaimed tearoom, plant nursery and gift shop attract garden and plant lovers from all over the world to see how Beth transformed a boggy wetland and gravel car park into gardens that thrive because of the conditions they grow in, not despite them.

Award winning Beth Chatto established her own gardens built on her “right plant in the right place” ethos in 1960. She won 10 consecutive Gold Medals at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in the 70s. She published several gardening books and wrote and featured in numerous books and articles throughout her lifetime, sharing her deep love and profound knowledge of planting. Her gardens and nursery are now one of the nation’s favourites and have influenced and inspired a generation of gardeners. They continue to grow and develop with dedicated and knowledgeable staff, many of whom learnt their trade working alongside Beth Chatto.
