Rochford is one of the oldest and most historic towns in Essex, with a long connection to kings, queens and other prominent people. Its history embraces smugglers, coaching inns, the Boleyn family and a rich Christian heritage, including the Peculiar People.
Guided tours around parts of Historic Rochford and 'The Old House' are organised periodically or can be pre-booked. In-costume guides add colour as you 'step back in time'.
This offer is for a VIP guided experience, an opportunity to explore this historic market town with a knowledgable guide who can point out to you all the interesting facets of the town which you might otherwise miss!
Rochford is a medieval market town, recorded in the Doomsday Book. Steeped in history, Rochford Town has many tales to tell. Guided tours around parts of Historic Rochford start from the Old House. Your in-costume guide will tell you more about Rochford’s rich and colourful heritage.
The Historic Rochford guided walks are short in distance, so suitable for most. However, some parts of the trail include narrow walkways and pavements, so we ask participants to watch their step. Please come prepared if the weather is poor!
All tours start at the Old House and last for around 45-60 minutes.
Please bring your ticket with you and meet us at The Old House at least 10 minutes before your tour start time.
